Pastor William George, the Director for Special Ministries put on a training program for all the volunteers working among the deaf in India. The training program was held in the Asian Aid School for the Blind, named Bobilli, in Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh on January 20-25, 2009. Pastor David Trexler and Pastor Alfred Griffith from the United States gave valuable training during the program. The training program was sponored by Adventist Deaf Ministries, Canadian Deaf Ministries, and generous contributions of the two pastors. The training program was attended by about thirty volunteers and deaf ministries directors of various unions and sections.
Each day began with a devotional, then each volunteer gave their report of the work he or she is doing among the deaf. This was followed by training sessions by Pastors Trexler and Griffith. Some of the topics were The Principles of Successful Personal Bible Study, Personal and Public Lifestyle of the Worker, The Importance of Personal Prayer and also The Need of the Holy Spirit's Working in our Lives. They were both inspirational as well as challenging. Each day ended with prayer bands when the volunteers prayed for the pouring of the Holy Spirit to help them to be effective workers.
Pastor Griffith dedicated a church for the deaf in Vizianagaram. Pastor Griffith also led in the communion service. The volunteers were all blessed and privileged to participate in this special communion service along with the staff and members of Asian Aid School for the Blind. We request that the Adventist church members in this Division to pray for and support the work of sharing the Gospel to the millions of deaf in this division.
