Looking Back on 2006
As 2006 comes to a close, we look back over the year to see how the Lord has blessed ADM. He has certainly sustained us and guided us as we labored to make a difference in the lives of Deaf people for eternity. Here's a little of what we've been doing.
The Deaf Messenger
The Deaf Messenger (TDM) has continued to be printed and mailed to Deaf individuals in America at no charge. While some names and addresses have been shared with us by friends and family, many subscribers have signed up through our website or by seeing us at Deaf Expos.
This year, TDM went on the web! You can now access TDM's current and past issues online at: www.DeafBibleSchool.com/tdm. Not deaf individuals living outside of the USA can access the magazine as well!
Deaf Bible School
The Bible school, both online and via mail, continues to grow. In 2006, the Bible school has over 150 new students! Please pray for these individuals!
Outreach at Deaf Events
We attended thirteen large Deaf events, mostly Deaf Nation Expos. Altogether there were over 42,000 people in attendance. We thank the Lord that he has provided a way for us to be exposed to so many Deaf people in just one year.
While many glance at our booth and quickly walk away, realizing we're "religious", quite a good number were delighted to see us. Some proudly told us they were TDM subscribers. Others looked up at our large booth banner "DeafBibleSchool.com" and excitedly introduced themselves as one of our students.
On top of this, we have been a consistent silent witness to our both neighbors and staff. Again and again, booth neighbors have come up to us, admitted they were watching us, and commented, "good job" and "you're doing a good work". A few of them have asked for the magazine or enrolled in the Bible school.
Due to space and weight, only so much give-away items can be taken to these events. Often we run out of materials! This year, we have given away over 750 Bibles, more than 4,600 pieces of literature, and 900+ DVDs. Let me assure you, these pieces went into very eager hands. Most of the time, their eyes grow large and ask, "You're actually giving these away?" They can't believe it!
New DVD series!
Another big accomplishment this year was the release of a new DVD series! Amazing Bible Truths with Francisca Trexler is a set of fourteen programs in ASL. Trexler clearly shares various Bible studies on these DVDs; they are especially designed for those who are new in studying the Bible. Click here for more information.
New Booklet!
A long needed booklet entitled, "Can You Hear Us?" was also released this year. This booklet is written to help hearing people understand Deaf people and the role of the church. Together we can all make an impact on the lives of Deaf people!
New Project!
A new DVD project is underway. This winter-themed DVD is being developed for future distribution at Deaf events, such as Winter Deaflympics 2007 at Park City, Utah. This will be completed by the end of January.
