National Association of the Deaf Convention Booth
Oh no, what are we going to do? That was the question Jim & Bunny faced.
We had planned to have a booth at the biennial convention of the National Association of the Deaf from July 6 to 11, 2004 in Kansas City, Missouri.
However, we needed to be in Maryland for an important meeting with church leaders. How were we going to do both at the same time?
The solution was to ask for help. So we decided to see if ADM board member Bruce Buzzell, from nearby St. Louis, would be willing to manage the booth for us. We also knew that Bruce would be coming to Deaf Reach 2004. So this would be a great opportunity for him to put his experience to work. Being a good solider for Jesus, Bruce quickly accepted the call to help.
But working a large event alone was a challenge. So we decided to ask another Deaf Reach 2004 student to help. Since Ken McLean lived a few hours from KC, we gave him a call. He quickly accepted to help. ADM is very thankful to Bruce & Ken for making it possible to have a booth at the biennial convention of the National Association of the Deaf.
Although the attendance was below expectations, there were still an estimated 1,500 people coming to the convention.
Bruce and Ken were able to distribute Bibles and various religious materials to the many visitors who stopped by the booth.
Bruce commented about the visitors: They were more attracted to the ILY picture of Jesus and many signed up for the free ILY picture. Bruce and Ken believe that the outreach was a success.
And ADM believes it was a double success for these reasons:
1.) More Gospel seeds were spread around the country to hundreds of deaf people.
2.) Two Deaf Reach 2004 graduates had an excellent first-hand experience in doing outreach to the deaf community.
Again, thanks to Bruce and Ken!
